Trumps Farm Energy Recovery Facility
Waste Energy Power Partners has submitted a planning application to Surrey County Council for an Energy Recovery Facility at Trumps Farm. Our application has been registered by the planning department, and you can view the full application here.
The site is on a previously used semi-industrial plot within the existing Kitsmead Recycling Centre, off Kitsmead Lane. It already includes the Severn Trent Green Power food waste facility that has operated since 2014 (on the right in the above image), and our proposed facility next door would be of a similar scale.
The facility would provide a safe, valuable, local and cost-effective service to the NHS and other similar facilities such as GPs and dentists in Surrey and the surrounding counties, preventing 16,000 tonnes of waste a year from being sent to landfill or transported long distances to be processed.
It would produce low-carbon electricity for around 1,100 typical homes, greater than the equivalent number of homes in Trumps Green and Virginia Water.
The process is safe and proven, used in similar facilities already operating across the UK, and would be monitored by the Environment Agency.
We have now completed our environmental assessments and submitted our planning application, and communicated our proposals to local people and businesses. We welcome your feedback and comments on the application. You can find more details about the project on this website.
Please note: these proposals are not related to the Covid-19 pandemic in any way. Background work and studies had been ongoing for several months.
